Ate something that wasn't in your plan? Log it

· Updated

A work lunch on a desk: a chicken wrap cut in half on a plate, potato chips in a paper bag and a can of soda, next to a laptop and a phone

Meal plans work well until real life happens. Work orders pizza, a friend picks the restaurant, or you grab something on the way home. Until now, Nutramigo only knew what you planned to eat. Now you can tell it what you actually ate.

Snap it or say it

Tap the camera next to the message box, or Log a meal, and take a photo of your plate. Amigo tells you what he sees, and about how many calories and how much protein it has.

Logging a lunch from a photo: a chicken caesar wrap, chips and a cola, about 925 kcal and 35 g of protein, logged instead of the planned chicken quinoa Greek bowl

No photo? Just tell him: “Work ordered pizza, I had 2 slices for lunch.” He logs it the same way.

Then pick which meal it was. What you ate takes the planned meal’s place, so your plan shows your real day. Changed your mind? Undo brings the planned meal back.

Amigo helps with the rest of the day

Once it’s logged, Amigo tells you in a sentence where your day stands. If it’s well over or under your target, he offers one change, like a lighter dinner or a snack, and only changes your plan if you say yes. He works out how much, and a lighter dinner never takes your day below your target.

No guilt. A bigger lunch is just part of the day.

Estimates, not measurements

A photo can’t be weighed, so the numbers are estimates. In our own test on 23 cafeteria plates whose ingredients had been weighed, half of the estimates were within 14% of the real calories, and some were further off. That’s why you can say a portion was smaller or bigger, or add a detail (“the soda was diet”) for a better estimate.

Your photo stays private

Your phone makes the photo smaller before it’s sent, which also removes its location. We keep a smaller copy with the meal you logged, so you can see it in your plan, and only you can see it. Undo the meal and the photo goes too. More in our privacy policy.
